Felony Charges Filed Against DuBois Man Caught Driving Stolen Vehicle

REYNOLDSVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – A DuBois man is facing felony receiving stolen property and related charges after being pulled over in a stolen vehicle in Reynoldsville last week.

Court documents indicate the DuBois-based State Police filed criminal charges against 23-year-old Angelo Joseph Gervasoni, of DuBois.

According to a criminal complaint, around 7:48 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, Trooper Himes was traveling north on North 4th Street in Reynoldsville when he discovered the vehicle in front of him, a Hyundai Elantra, had a registration that expired in December of 2016. Trooper Himes activated his emergency lights and stopped the vehicle on the 400 block of North 4th Street.

Trooper Himes asked the vehicle’s driver, identified as Angelo Joseph Gervasoni, for his license, registration, and insurance, but Gervasoni was only about to provide his name and date of birth, according to the complaint.

The complaint states that when Trooper Himes returned to his patrol vehicle, he discovered that the registration that was displayed on the Elantra was for a 2000 Dodge sedan. He went back to Elantra and retrieved the vin number, then returned to his patrol vehicle to obtain a certified Pennsylvania registration from the PCO. During this time, the complaint noted that Trooper Himes also observed that the vehicle had two bald tires in the front, and the inspection sticker displayed had a VIN number for a different vehicle.

According to the complaint, Trooper Himes ran the VIN number for the Elantra and found that it was reported stolen out of Sandy Township, Clearfield County, which he also confirmed with the Sandy Township Police Department.

Trooper Himes had Gervasoni exit the vehicle and then performed a frisk search, during which he discovered a small round metal container containing suspected methamphetamine in Gervasoni’s right pants pocket. Gervasoni was then transported to PSP Dubois for processing.

The vehicle was towed to PSP DuBois.

Gervasoni was arraigned at 9:20 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, on the following charges:

– Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 3
