Final Touches Being Put on Jefferson County Fair

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – An exciting week of fun is in store at the Jefferson County Fair, which gets underway Sunday, July 17, and runs through Saturday, July 23.

Each day of the Fair, which is held at the Jefferson County Fair Grounds just off the Hazen Exit of Interstate 80, is packed with all-day excitement with carnival rides starting at 5 p.m. most days Starting Monday, July 18, (It opens at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, and at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 23) and different track events each night starting at 7 p.m.

Opening ceremonies start at 1:30 p.m. Sunday with Karen Uplinger emceeing, Pastor Marcia Shaffer of the First Baptist Church of Punxsutawney as the speaker and music from the Youth Praise Group from Brookville. Then the Princess, Junior Queen and Queen Competitions will take place at 2:30 p.m. followed by the full-size horse pull at 7 p.m.

The Fair will then open at 9 a.m. the rest of the week with an admission of $8 every day but Wednesday, which is half-price day. Admission includes parking, carnival and admission to all fair activities.

Sunday, July 17
1:30 p.m. – Opening Ceremonies
2:30 p.m. – Princess, Junior Queen and Queen Competitions
4 p.m. – Mini-Horse Pull
7 p.m. – Full-size Horse Pull

Monday, July 18
Family Fun Night Organized by the Girls Scouts from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
5 p.m. – Carnival Opens
6 p.m. – Milking Contest in front of the grandstand
7 p.m. – ATV Racing Extravaganza (Local ATVs) on the track
9 p.m.-11 p.m. – Karaoke and DJ by “Dazzle U” on the Community Stage

Tuesday, July 19
9 a.m. – Draft & Mini Horse Show
5 p.m. – Carnival Opens
5:45 p.m. – 4H and Open Beef, Dairy Feeders, Sheep, Goat shows
7 p.m. – 4×4 Gas/Diesel Truck & Hot Tractor Pull (www.bigrigspulling.com)
7 p.m. to 9 p.m. – BINGO by Brookville Relay for Life Team on the Community Stage
9 p.m. to 11 p.m. – “Bad Hat Daddy O’s” Music Duo on Community Stage

Wednesday, July 20
Family Fun Day – Tickets only $4 at the Front Gate
9 a.m. – Horse Halter and Riding Show
4 p.m. – Carnival Opens
7 p.m. – Street Licenses Truck Pull with “PA Posse” semi-trucks, work stock diesels and super farm tractors (www.bigrigpulling.com)
7 p.m. to 9 p.m. – BINGO by Brookville Relay for Life Team on the Community Stage
9 p.m.-11 p.m. – Karaoke and DJ by “Dazzle U” on the Community Stage

Thursday, July 21
9 a.m. – Open Horse Game Show
1 p.m. to 2 p.m. – Senior Citizens Special Event (Lunch reservations made with Area Agency on Aging)
5 p.m. – Carnival Opens
7 p.m. – 4H and Vocational Livestock Sale in the Show Arena
7 p.m. – “Enhanced” Car and Truck Mud Bog
9 p.m.-11 p.m. – “Fiddler’s Jam” from Brookville’s Create Cafe on the Community Stage followed by Karaoke and DJ by “Dazzle U” as needed

Friday, July 22
9 a.m. – Youth/Adult Horse Fun Show
5 p.m. – Carnival Opens
7 p.m. – Premier Showmanship Contest
7 p.m. – Rawhide Professional Rodeo (Admission included with regular fair admission; www.rawhiderodeo.com)
7 p.m.-9 p.m. – Old-fashioned HoeDown by the Hidinger Band on the Community Stage
9 p.m.-11 p.m. – Karaoke and DJ by “Dazzle U” on the Community Stage

Saturday, July 23
9 a.m. – Memorial Horse Show
1 p.m. – Carnival Opens
1 p.m.-5 p.m. – “Kim Thomas” Fiddle Contest on the Community Stage
2 p.m. – Figure 8 Races
5 p.m.-7:30 p.m. – “The Banned” (Sam Sears & Jared Thomas)
7 p.m. – Full-size car Demolition Derby
7:30 p.m.-9 p.m. – Suicide Prevention Vigil and Luminaria
9 p.m.-11 p.m. – Karaoke and DJ by “Dazzle U” on the Community Stage
