NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – It seems apropos that New Bethlehem dentist Stephen Jaworski collects various illustrations of Noah’s Ark.
Jaworski, who celebrated his 40th-anniversary last year as a dentist with offices in New Bethlehem and Rimersburg, has had two properties damaged by flood this year alone.
The recent Leisure Run flood in New Bethlehem destroyed his home, and he and his wife had to be rescued by boat.
That was the second time this year floodwaters tormented Jaworski, as earlier this year a flood sunk his camp near Clymer.
And, 2019 wasn’t the first time floods affected the dentist.
He started his practice on Broad Street in 1978, but “The Flood of 1996” from the Redbank Creek reached across the street and wiped out his practice including equipment and x-rays. He later rebuilt his practice and moved to his Wood Street practice.
But, the New Bethlehem dentist has kept a good spirit about it, and along the way, he picked up various illustrations of Noah’s Ark. He may have wanted to be prepared – or they served as good luck charms because no one was ever hurt.
