Flora G. Fockler, 88, of Punxsutawney, passed away on June 14, 2016, at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
She was born on January 27, 1928, in Gaskill Twp, Jefferson County, a daughter of the late Edwin F. and Ella Mae (Miller) Gibson.
Flora was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Punxsutawney where she sang in the choir and played the piano.
On April 28, 1956, she married Frederick G. Fockler. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2005.
She was an employee of Bell Telephone of Pa. for 38 years. After retirement, she was a member of the Pioneers of Bell Telephone where she enjoyed going out to lunch with other retired members.
Flora was a woman of great faith. She was active in Child Evangelism Fellowship of Jefferson County, particularly the Good News Club and the Story House, and enjoyed attending the Ladies Community Bible Study. Her greatest passion was seeing people come to faith in Christ.
She is survived by one son, Stephen Fockler and wife Judy of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Paula Haddix and husband Pryce of Montgomery, Alabama; three grandchildren, David Fockler; Rebecca Salani and husband Joseph; and Lindsay Grimm; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Danielle Salani; and Lily and Effy Mae Grimm; two sisters, Martha Shugarts and husband Ronald of Punxsutawney; and Ruth Atherton of Punxsutawney.
Flora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick Fockler; her first husband, John “Jack” Davis; and two brothers, Edwin and John Gibson.
Friends will be received on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 3 to 7 p.m., and on Saturday, June 18, 2016, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Paul Ritchey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Flora’s memory to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Jefferson County, Findley and Mahoning Street, Punxsutawney, Pa. 15767.
