Florence A. Litz, 87, 1816 Treasure Lake, DuBois, PA died August 26, 2017 at Christ the King Manor, DuBois, PA.

Born Nov. 6, 1929 in Lock Haven, PA she was the daughter of the late Harry B. and Verna Heeman Barner.

On 5/5/49 she married William R. Gates who died 11/17/2011. On 2/27/1982 she married Edwin Litz, who survives.

Florence was a 1948 graduate of the Walker Twp. High School and a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Snydertown PA. She enjoyed family, traveling abroad, dancing, cards games, letter writing, golf, and bowling. Earlier in her life, Florence worked at Sylvania, Seyler’s Tastee Freeze, J. C. Penney, Grossman’s, and as a realtor at Star Real Estate.

Survivors include: 2 Daughters: Judy Lee Gates, Lakeland, FL and Kathy Ann (Barry) Snook, Snydertown, PA.; 1 Son: Roger A. (Cathy) Gates, DuBois, PA.; 2 Step-Daughters: Marci L. Smith, Reading, PA and Kirsten S. “Stacie” (William) Winkleman, Middlesex, NJ; 2 Sisters:Barbara J. (John) Brouse, Bluffton, SC & Joyce M. (Mahlon) Fetzer, Port Matilda, PA; 4 Brothers: Harry M. (Bettie) Barner, Lamar, PA; Kenneth M. (Susan) Barner, Birmingham, AL; Gerald R. Barner, Zion, PA; Barry L. (Ilene) Barner, Howard, PA; 2 Grandchildren: Shawn A. Best, Centre Hall, PA; Amanda C. Gates, Pittsburgh, PA; 4 Step-Grandchildren: Clint Smith, Conshohocken, PA; Andrea Smith, Pottsville, PA; Chris Winkleman Middelsex, NJ; Andrew Winkleman, Middlesex, NJ.; 4 Great Step Grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: 3 Brothers: Clarence S. Barner, Mahlon A. Barner and Robert A. Barner

A Memorial Service honoring the life of Florence A. Litz will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at the St. Mark Lutheran Church, Snydertown, PA. with Pastor Frank E. Harpster officiating. Interment, Snydertown Cemetery.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 11:00 AM until time of services in the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church, Snydertown, PA. through the funeral home.
