Floyd Luther Huntsman, 79 passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Punxsutawney Area Hospital after losing his courageous battle with illness.
Mr. Huntsman was born on January 9, 1937 in Huntington, Pa a son of the late Abram and Clara (Detwiler) Huntsman
Floyd came from a large family having 14 siblings. H
e was self-employed as a truck driver and went by the handle “Boots”. When not driving his truck, he enjoyed tractors and loved spending time with his family, calling and chatting with people. It’s safe to say for all who knew Floyd he enjoyed just “shooting the crap” with his friends.
Floyd is survived by three daughters, Tonya Denise Mills and her husband Dave of Somerset, PA, Tammy Jo Kerr and her husband Donny of Culpepper, VA, and Tia Louise Filiault and her husband Michael of Naples, FL; Philip Derise and wife Amber of WA. Floyd is also survived by three siblings, a sister Anna Forshey and two brothers, Abram “Jim” and Clinton Huntsman. His surviving grandchildren include his daughter Tonya’s children, Colton Mills and Davey Henderson; his daughter Tammy’s children, Tori and Tara Kerr; and his daughter Tia’s children Nicole Shaulis, Karrisa and Carson Filiault; his son Philip’s daughter’s Vivian & Hannah Derise. Floyd is also survived by two great-grandchildren; Tyler Henderson, and Garrett Shaulis.
Besides his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by eleven siblings; His five brothers are Ross, Ralph “Yippie”, Andy, Clair, and Robert “Bobby” Huntsman; and, his six sisters are Clara “Doots” Huntsman, Evelyn Coder, Leona Fouse, Sara O”Donnell, Grace Secrest, and Alice Pond. Floyd was also preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Hunter Mills.
Family and friends will be received at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. in Punxsutawney on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 17 at the funeral home and officiated by Pastor Guy Smith.
Floyd will be interred at Mt Zion Cemetery, Bell Twp, Jefferson County.
