Former Brookville Mayor, Donald Edwin Wilson, Dead at 71

Donald Edwin Wilson, 71, of Hunts Alley, Brookville, died on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at home.

Born February 20, 1943, in Brookville, Donald was the son of Bruce E. Wilson and Louise Fetzer Wilson.

Donald served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1966, including during the Vietnam War.

He was an active member of the Brookville community, serving as mayor of Brookville from 1992 to 2001, as a member of Brookville Borough Council from 1976 to 1981, and as President of Brookville Borough council from 1982 to 1991.

Donald was a lifetime member of the Pinecreek Volunteer Fire Department and was active in the Presbyterian Chuch in Brookville, where he was a past treasurer. He was a member of the Hobah Lodge #276 F&AM of Brookville and 32nd degree Mason Coudersport Consistory. Donald was also a Constable and an amateur radio operator.

He is survived by two daughters, Michele “Shelly” Wilson Toomey (Pat), of Monroeville, and Sherry Wilson, of Pittsburgh, a sister, Ellen Wilson Heriger, of Moon Township, and two grandchildren, Patrick Toomey III and Brandon Toomey.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Wilson Afton.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday, September 9 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville.

Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday following visitation with the Rev. Nathan Royster officiating.

Interment will be at Brookville Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Donald’s name to the Presbyterian Church, White and Main St., Brookville, or Rebecca M. Arthur’s Memorial Library, 223 Valley St., Brookville.
