Four District 9 Hoops Teams Given Second Round Locations for PIAA Games

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (D9Sports) – The PIAA has released all of its sites for the second round basketball playoff games.

Four District 9 teams are still alive – two boys’ teams and two girls’ teams – with three of them in action Tuesday night.

In Class A boys’ action Tuesday, there will be a doubleheader at Clarion University’s Tippin Gym involving a pair of D9 teams vs. a pair of D10 squads.

At 6 p.m. District 9 runner-up Coudersport will take on District 10 champion Kennedy Catholic, while at 7:30 p.m. D9 champion Elk County Catholic meets District 10 runner-up Farrell.

Also on Tuesday, in Class AA girls’ action, District 9 champion Karns City will take on District 5 champion North Star at 6 p.m. at IUP’s Memorial Fieldhouse.

It will be back to Indiana, Pa., for a District 9 team Wednesday as D9 Class A girls’ champion Keystone will face WPIAL runner-up Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic at 7:30 p.m. also at IUP’s Memorial Fieldhouse.

One other game, not involving District 9 teams, will be played at a D9 venue Wednesday as District 6 third-place finisher Penns Valley will meet District 10 third-place finisher West Middlesex in the Class AA boys’ second round at 7 p.m. at DuBois Middle School.

Class A Boys (Tuesday, March 8) 

(9-2) Coudersport vs. (10-1) Kennedy Catholic, 6 p.m. Clarion University’s Tippin Gym

(9-1) Elk County Catholic vs. (10-2) Farrell, 7:30 p.m. Clarion University’s Tippin Gym

Class AA Girls (Tuesday, March 8)

(9-1) Karns City vs. (5-1) North Star, 6 p.m. at IUP’s Memorial Fieldhouse, Indiana, Pa.

Class A Girls (Wednesday, March 9)

(9-1) Keystone vs. (7-2) Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic, 7:30 p.m. at IUP’s Memorial Fieldhouse, Indiana, Pa.
