Four People Transported to Punxsy Hospital After Vehicle Slams into Utility Pole

MCCALMONT TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say four people were transported to Punxsutawney Hospital after a vehicle struck a utility pole in McCalmont Township on Saturday evening.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, the accident happened around 6:02 p.m. on January 16, on Graffius Avenue Extension near its intersection with State Route 310, In McCalmont Township, Jefferson County.

Police say 55-year-old Karen A. Arrington, of Big Run, was operating a 2005 Toyota Tacoma, traveling south on Graffius Avenue Extension traveling around a slight left curve when the vehicle began to slide due to the snowy road conditions.

The vehicle then slid off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Arrington and her three passengers, whose identities were not released, were all using seat belts.

No injuries were reported at the scene. However, all of the occupants were transported to Punxsutawney Hospital by Jefferson County EMS as a precautionary measure.

Punxsutawney Fire Department and Rebucks Southside Towing also assisted at the scene.
