Frances “Lucile” Uplinger

Frances “Lucile” Uplinger, age 88, of Brockport, Pa., passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at her residence.

She was born on November 2, 1927, to the late James and Frances Johnston Whamond.

On April 21, 1951, she married the love of her life, Paul Uplinger who preceded her in death on February 25, 2015.

Lucile graduated from the DuBois Business College and began her career as a secretary at the Brockway Glass Company.

She was Presbyterian by faith and a member of the Eastern Star, Ridgway and the White Shrine, DuBois.

She enjoyed traveling around the United States with her husband, baking her world famous cookies, gardening and crafting especially needlepoint and plastic canvas with her friends.

Special thanks are extended from the family for the compassionate care provided to her over the last several months by her private duty caregivers and hospice team.

Lucile is survived by her sister-in-laws Phyllis Anderson of Brockway and Jean Siple of Minnesota; her son-in-law Jack Dobmeier also of Minnesota; two grandchildren Jeff Dobmeier of Colorado and Judy Velayo of North Carolina; three great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by William Castina and family of Brockport who have provided loving support to Lucile over the past several years.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is also preceded in death by her beloved daughter Bonnie J. Dobmeier.

Friends will be received on Saturday, July 2, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. also at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Nagele officiating.

Burial will follow in the Earleyville Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Brockway Church of God, Penn Highlands DuBois Hospice or the Brockway Ambulance Association.
