Francisco, Timko Help Curwensville Baseball Past ECC


CURWENSVILLE, Pa. (D9Sports) – Avery Francisco and Bryce Timko drove in a pair of runs each to lead Curwensville to a 5-3 win over visiting Elk County Catholic.

Francisco was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs scored with Timko going 2-for-4 with a double.

Dan Wimer was 3-for-3 with a double with two RBIs for ECC.

Noah VonGunden pitched a complete game allowing three unearned runs on six hits and three walks while striking out three.

Hunter Cashmer took the loss going four innings allowing four runs, two earned, on five hits and three walks while striking out three.

JOHNSONBURG 9, BROCKWAY 3

BROCKWAY, Pa. – A nine-run second inning helped visiting Johnsonburg to a 9-3 win over Brockway.

Kacey Raubenstrauch was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored for the Rams with Daunte Allegretto going 2-for-4 with a run scored, Johnny Mitchell 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored and Josh Thorwart 2-for-2. Ben Freeburg added a double, an RBI and a run scored.

Angelo Inzana was 2-for-5 for Brockway with Nickelas Porrin walking twice and driving in a run and Matthew Clark going 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.

Tyler Serafini took the loss going three innings allowing nine runs, one earned, on six hits and a walk while striking out three.

Gavin Elmquist, one of five pitchers used by Johnsonburg, got the win in relief going two innings allowing three runs, one earned, on three walks while striking out four.

CLEARFIELD 4, BALD EAGLE AREA 2

HYDE, Pa. – Reese Wilson’s solo home run leading off the bottom of the sixth helped lift Clearfield to a 4-2 win over visiting Bald Eagle Area.

With the game tied at two, Wilson hit the home run to give the Bison the lead, and Eli Glass added an insurance run with an RBI double later in the inning.

Clearfield, which was held hitless until the fifth inning, got on the board first with back-to-back doubles from Nate Barr and Harrison Peacock and an RBI single by Ty Bender.

BEA tied the game in the top of the sixth on two-out singles by Kael Gardner and Hunter Brooks.

Glass got the win going 1 ⅓ in relief of Jake Sorbera. He allowed two hits and a walk and struck out one. Sorbera went 5 ⅔ innings allowing two unearned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six.

SOFTBALL

DUBOIS 13, ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 3, 5 INNINGS

DUBOIS, Pa. – Behind a strong pitching performance from Molly Nosker, DuBois topped visiting Elk County Catholic, 13-3, in five innings.

Nosker went five innings allowing two hits, three runs, one earned, and four walks while striking out seven.
