Frank J. Molnar

Frank J. Molnar, 86, of Butler, formerly of Conneaut Lake and Chicora, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Frank was born in Punxsutawney on July 29, 1934, a son of the late Frank and Anna (Hritz) Molnar.

On June 30, 1956, Frank married Barbara Compagnola; she preceded him in death on December 9, 2017.

Frank was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas, Conneaut Lake, and a former member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Butler.

Frank retired from Swanson Corporation of Erie in 2000 after 20 years of service as a mechanical engineer. A graduate of Saints Cosmas & Damian Catholic School, Punxsutawney, he furthered his education by earning his Associate Degree from Penn State, DuBois, in Drafting and Design Technology. He was a veteran of the US Army and Army Reserves having been honorably discharged on March 11, 1963. Frank enjoyed golfing but had a passion for tinkering in his garage. From the time he was a young boy, he had a desire and curiosity for taking items apart and putting them back together.

Frank is survived by a son, Dr. John C. Molnar of Butler; two granddaughters, Kayla Marie and Natalie Jo Molnar; two sisters, Lillian Sulick of Sharon, and Marie Schreckengost (Eugene) of Punxsutawney.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Barbara of 61 years, Frank was preceded in death by a son, Joseph; and a sister, Delores.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, from 2:00 – 3:15 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE. CDC guidelines will be followed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on December 23, 2020 at 3:30 PM at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch Street, Meadville, with Fr. Jeff Lucas, pastor officiating.

Frank will be laid to rest next to his wife, Barbara, in St. Brigid Cemetery.
