Fred “Prit” Shumaker, 83, of Graystone Court, Punxsutawney, died July 12, 2015, in Hillsdale, Pa.
He was born on Dec. 9, 1931, in Distant, Pa. to Fred Mohney Shumaker and Minnie Pansy (Adams) Shumaker.
He married Kathryn Ann Walker on Jan. 26, 1950 and she survives.
Fred served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, was as an ironworker and a member of the Ironworkers Local No. 3 in Pittsburgh. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Kate; three sons, Fred Shumaker Jr. and wife Suzanne of Juneau, Randy Shumaker of Ohl and Robert Shumaker and wife Brooke of Punxsutawney; two daughters, Sherry Fetterman and husband John of Glen Campbell and Susan Shumaker of Punxsutawney; a sister, Norma Gallagher; 12 grandchildren; and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David Shumaker and Ben Shumaker; and six sisters, Elsie Downs, Dee Stauffner, Pauline Bish, Connie Rogers, Donna Hoffman and Violet Ferringer.
Arrangements are private and under the direction of the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
Interment will be in Oakland Community Cemetery in Distant.
