Frederick “Wilson” Miller

Frederick MillerFrederick “Wilson” Miller, age 83, of Brookville, PA, passed away on April 11, 2017, at the Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA.

Fred was born on May 27, 1933, to the late Frederick and Mary L. (Creola) Miller, in Anita, PA.

On August 19, 1994, he married Jane E. (Richards) Miller, at their home when they lived in Anita; Jane survives him.

Fred spent 23 years of his life honorably serving his country as a member of the United States Air Force and then as a part of the Army Air Calvary. As a Master Sergeant, he served during the Korean War. During the Vietnam War he piloted Helicopters, taking his comrades into and out of the “hot zones”. He was decorated for his dedication and accomplishments and he was proud of his service. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, and the Army Navy Club.

He was also a member of the Sons of Italy, and he served as an officer at the Moose Lodge in Punxsutawney, PA.

Fred spent time working as an Engineer for Brockway Glass and he was very well educated being both book smart and by learning through life’s lessons.

In addition to his native language of English, he spoke Japanese, Vietnamese, Italian, and German.

He loved people and he enjoyed being with groups, most especially his military family.

He liked listening to his police scanner and tinkering with his Ham radio.

He loved being on his computer, a tool which made his interest in researching his family history much easier; he was able to trace back his family roots many generations.

He collected scale model cars, Lionel trains, guns, and knives.

More than anything, he loved his family, all of them; words like “step-children” didn’t really hold meaning for him. Fred will be missed.

In addition to his wife Jane, Fred is survived by 2 daughters; Penelope Miller and Alicia (Robert) McCracken; 2 sons; Billy Miller and Frederick (Katie) Baughman; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Fred is preceded in death by 1 daughter; Tracy Baughman.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 14, 2017, from 2 – 4pm and 6 – 8pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825.

A funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 15, 2017, also at the funeral home, beginning at 10:00am and officiated by Rev. Chuck Jack.
