Jonathan Morales, 35, was charged by DuBois City police on Friday with five felony counts of manufacture/delivery/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and felony counts of dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, conspiracy and possession of firearm prohibited.

In addition, he is charged with five misdemeanor counts of intentional possession of a controlled substance and two traffic summaries.

The charges stem from a traffic stop on Liberty Boulevard on Thursday at 7:21 p.m. that occurred after an officer saw the vehicle driven by Morales leave the parking lot of a motel without using a proper turn signal.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, after he was pulled over, Morales admitted he did not have a valid driver’s license.

During their interaction, one of the officers noticed some drug paraphernalia lying on the passenger side floor board.

As Morales and his female passenger were removed from the car, the officers said they could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A large black bag was found on the floor behind the passenger seat that allegedly contained a box with numerous bags of heroin, syringes and Xanax. They also found marijuana, a handgun, cocaine and methamphetamine.

Morales himself reportedly had five grams of suspected methamphetamine in his right front pocket.

Police say after the vehicle was taken to the police station and the bag was searched further, they found over $9,000.

In all, the black bag contained 229.37 grams of marijuana, 665 stamp bags of suspected heroin, 51.57 grams of methamphetamine, 33.79 grams of cocaine, 20 Xanax pills and 16 loaded syringes, according to the report.

Morales is being held in the county jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday.
