LAWRENCE TWP., Pa. (GANT) – An impersonating police officer/firefighter investigation got under way Dec. 7 following an incident in Lawrence Township.

Police say the operator of a 2003 white Ford Explorer is using an overhead blue light bar to stop vehicles and conduct traffic control without authorization.

Incidents have reportedly occurred within the township and surrounding areas. The suspect is believed to be a Caucasian male in his early 20’s.

Any witnesses are urged to call 911 and immediately report such incidents to local law enforcement.

Police say any individual being pulled over by an unmarked vehicle and questioning the legitimacy of the officer can:

  • wait until they travel into a busy area where there’s gas stations, businesses, etc., or a police station. Under questionable circumstances, never pull over in a secluded area.
  • Call 911 and notify the dispatcher that you’re being followed by an apparent unmarked police unit and plan to pull over when it’s safe to do so. Provide any vehicle information you can (make, model, etc.)
