DUBOIS, Pa. – Darlene Marshall opened the public comments portion of the regularly scheduled DuBois City Council meeting as a representative of the residents on Highland Street Extension who are against the proposed disposal injection well.
Last week during the Sandy Township Supervisors’ meeting, Marshall requested a letter of appeal, as a show of support from Sandy Township. This week she requested a similar letter of appeal from DuBois City.
These requests came on the heel of a recent judgment from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to issue a permit to Windfall Oil and Gas for a proposed disposal injection well near the Highland Street Extension area.
A permit had previously been issued by the EPA to Windfall Oil and Gas, but had been remanded after appeal. Area residents have 30 days to appeal permits.
