Garbage Truck Hits Mail Vehicle in Young Township

YOUNG TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A garbage truck struck a mail vehicle in Young Township on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, around 12:43 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, a two-vehicle crash occurred on Garzoni Road just south of Crawfordtown Road in Young Township, Jefferson County.

Police say a 2000 Peterbilt garbage truck, operated by 75-year-old Harry. E. Conser, of Punxsutawney, was backing south down the middle of Garzoni Road, when it struck a 1989 Grumman mail vehicle, operated by 40-year-old Jennifer L Lloyd, of Punxsutawney, while the mail vehicle was stopped in the northbound lane.

The garbage truck pushed the mail vehicle approximately five feet before both vehicles came to a final rest.

Conser and Lloyd were both using seat belts while a passenger on the garbage truck, identified as 38-year-old Billie J. Brewer, was not.

No injuries were reported.

The mail vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by McCool’s Towing.

Conser was cited for a traffic violation.
