Gary William Klepfer

Scan0003Gary William Klepfer, 71, of Mayport (Shannondale), died Wednesday morning, December 23, 2015 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born on June 8, 1944 in Mayport the son of the late Ray A. and Isabelle M. (Hause) Klepfer. On September 9, 1967, he married Deborah D. (Perseghetti).

Gary served his country with a tour of duty in Vietnam with the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969. Gary worked as a self employed welder. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, and gardening. He loved his dogs and hunting, especially hunting rabbits with his grandsons and Dale Gallo.

Gary is survived by his wife of 48 years, Deborah D. Klepfer of Mayport, two daughters, Angela Brooke Gruver and her husband Gary, Jr. of Mayport and Robin Dian Crissman and her husband Ryan of New Bethlehem, three grandchildren, Bracken Scott, Joshua Gruver, and Kyonna Crissman, a sister, Mary E. Bish of Mayport, two brothers, Rayburn R. Klepfer and his wife Peg of Gibsonia and Victor L. Klepfer and his wife Sharon of New Bethlehem, two sister-in-laws, Austa Klepfer of Port Falls, Idaho and F. Jeanette Klepfer of Mayport, and one brother-in-law, Charles Musser of New Bethlehem.

In addition to his parents, Gary was also preceded in death by two sisters, Benette Minich and Reba Musser, two brothers, Robert Klepfer and Donald Klepfer, and two brother-in-laws, Charles Bish and Roy Minich.

Visitation will be on Saturday, December 26, 2015 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 and Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 2 – 3 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be on Sunday at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Hicks officiating. Immediately following the funeral service, the Walter W. Craig Post 354 of New Bethlehem American Legion will honor their fallen comrade.
