Gender-Neutral Option Will Soon Be Available on PA Driver’s Licenses

HARRISBURG, Pa. (EYT) – A gender-neutral option will soon be available on Pennsylvania driver’s licenses.

According to a published article on The Daily Item, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation plans to have the new option in place sometime next year.

Motorists will have a third option “X” to indicate gender.

The Daily Item noted that a PennDOT spokeswoman stated that the agency does not need authorization from the Republican-controlled Legislature.

Governor Tom Wolf (D-PA) stated that although PennDOT made the decision, it is consistent with his opinions about equity and fairness.
