George J Gardner20160222_11043137George J. Gardner, 67, of Brookville, died Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Penn Highlands in DuBois.

Born April 23, 1948 in Lorain, Ohio, he was preceded in death by parents Budd and Jackie Homan.
George was a graduate of Edison High (NJ) and attended NYU School of Visual Arts (NY, NY) until serving in The US Air Force in Thailand. His life’s work was art and music. His fine art attracted collectors from all reaches of the world and George has been honored to have his works highlighted in several art museums here in the US. His folk art has travelled from East coast specialty shops to Neiman Marcus of Texas and beyond. George possessed an incredible talent in music as well, played professionally for nearly 50 years and also gave private lessons.

George enjoyed travelling, gourmet cooking for everyone and lazy river rafting. He was a boxer in his youth.

George was married to Patti Kniseley on May 2, 1997 at Fairchild’s Park, St. Thomas USVI. Along with his wife he is survived by Sons: Ryan (Heather) Gardner, Scott (Mikaila) Ishamn, Brigette (Eric) McConnell, Nicole (Bill Lauterwasser) Ishman, eight grandchildren: Brendan, Erin, Meghann, Olivia, Noah, Bridgett, Abigail and Brynja Rose. George is also survived by one brother Greg Homan.

A celebration of life will be held at 1pm on Friday February 26, 2016 at the Meade Chapel United Methodist Church, 10193 Knoxdale Road, Brookville PA, 15825. An informal gathering and jam session will be at Treasure Lake Ski Lodge later afternoon and early evening.

Memorial donations may be made to Meade Chapel United Methodist Church.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Furlong Funeral Home.
