George Stephen Long

George Stephen Long, 66, of Punxsutawney, died unexpectedly after a short illness on Friday, March 30, 2018, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born January 29, 1952, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Raymond “Cub” Long Sr. and Irene (Felisky) Long.

Mr. Long was Catholic by faith.

George worked as a talented auto body repairman for many different body shops over the years. He also worked in the powdered metal industry prior to his retirement.

He enjoyed hunting, camping, and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

George is survived by his fiancé, Debbie Gotwald, together they enjoyed over thirty-five years together. He is also survived by two stepsons, Carl Gotwald Jr. and wife Michele, and Eric Gotwald and wife Angela; five beloved grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Cheyenne, Logan and Sara; two brothers, Raymond Long, Jr. and Bob Long; one sister, Rita (Long) Greenblatt; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Mary (Long) Paris.

According to George’s wishes, there will be no visitation.

Memorial donations may be made in his memory to St. Judes’ Children Research Hospital or to Feed the Children.
