Gerald E. “Jerry” Young

Gerald E. “Jerry” Young, 71, of DuBois, passed away suddenly on August 16, 2021 at his home.

He was born on July 26, 1950, in St. Marys, PA.

He was predeceased by his parents, Sebastian J. “Sep” Young and Kathleen M. Dippold Young, and an infant son, Craig.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Bonnie Cox Young, children, Michael and Michelle, brothers, Dennis (Laurie) and Steven, grandchildren, Wesley and Steven, and numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

All family members loved him dearly and enjoyed spending time with him.

Jerry graduated from St. Marys Area High School in 1969.

He was a long time employee of AIRCO in St. Marys, PA (1970 to 1987) and THARCO in Denver, Colorado (1988 until his retirement in 2005). At THARCO, he was delighted to be named Employee of the Month in 1993 and then Employee of the Year in 1998.

He was a past member of the Board of Directors for the Saint Marys Area Federal Credit Union (1977 – 1987).

Jerry was an avid collector of Pepsi Cola memorabilia for over 50 years and member of the Pepsi Cola Collectors Club.

In his younger years he was an avid hunter, but of late, he enjoyed watching the wildlife from the camp he had completely renovated into a beautiful home.

He was happiest when he was outdoors and maintaining his property.

He looked forward to visiting with family and friends, storytelling, and talking endlessly.

Jerry was gifted with the skills of a handyman and was always willing to help others. He believed a job was not done until it was done right.

He lived life right.

Arrangements will be private and are under the direction of Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Jerry, donations may be made to the Pennsylvania Wildlife Habitat Unlimited, P.O. Box 851, DuBois, PA 15801-0851.
