Geraldine “Gerry” Slattery

Geraldine “Gerry” Slattery, age 88, of DuBois, PA passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

Born July 15, 1927 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late George and Kathryn (Yenenas) Urban.

She was married to William L. Slattery, Sr. He preceded her in death on December 2, 1997.

Gerry was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. But most importantly, she loved to be with her family.

She is survived by five children: William “Bucky” Slattery, Jr.; Robert Slattery, Sr. and his wife, Mary Sue; Sue Shenkle; Pat Slattery and Judy Smith and her husband, Paul, all of DuBois, PA, a brother, Donald “Blackie” Urban of DuBois, PA and a sister, Bernadette “Banie” Mehok of Hamburg, NY. She is also survived by six grandchildren (Mandi Bauer; Cheri McConnell; Robert “Bobby” Slattery, Jr.; Kelly Jo Whiting; Georgeanne Shenkle; and Ashley Slattery) and eight great grandchildren with two more on the way. She is also survived by sisters in law, Kathy Urban and Lois Slattery, both of DuBois, PA.

Gerry was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene “Tex” Urban.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 4-7 P.M. at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home.

A Scriptural Wake Service will be held Monday afternoon at 3:30 P.M.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 10 A.M. from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Edward Walk as celebrant.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Memorials may be placed with St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and/or the Memory Support Unit at Christ the King Manor, 1100 West Long Avenue, DuBois, PA 15801.
