Geraldine Grace Himes

Geraldine Grace Himes, age 93, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at the Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital.

She was born in Beaver Twp., on July 5, 1922, to the late John and Nellie (Byerly) Young. She married Allen Himes on October 14, 1940, in Pansy, PA; All

en preceded her in death on February 20, 2008. For over 34 years she worked in the Dietary Department of the Brookville Hospital, retiring in February of 1997.

She participated in the Child Welfare Circle and Women’s Career when they existed; the Roseville Grange since 1970; and she was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church.

She is survived by 2 sons, William (Mary Ellen) Himes of Canandaigua, NY; Larry (Patsy) Himes of Myrtle Beach, SC; 1 brother, Ronald (Linda); 3 sisters, Phyllis Moore, Joyce Burkett, and Doris Neel; 2 sister-in-laws, Naomi Young and Lydia Young; 4 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by 3 brothers, Harold, Ivan, and William; 1 daughter-in-law, Patricia (Ford) Himes; 1 grandson, Charles Edward Himes; and 1 infant daughter.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 15, 2016, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville PA, 15825.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 30 white St., Brookville, PA, 15825, beginning at 1:00pm, with the Rev. Chuck Jack officiating.

Interment to take place at Zion Cemetery, Beaver Twp., Jefferson Co. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Roseville Grange, 85 Roseville Rd., Brookville Pa, 15825, or to the Evangelical United Methodist Church.
