Gilman R. Lainey, 75, of Punxsutawney, PA, died Saturday, July 26. 2015 at Mulberry Square in Punxsutawney, PA.
He was born December 13, 1939 in Fort Kent, ME, the son of the late Alphie and Alice (DuBois) Lainey.
He was married to Joan Lainey, who preceded him in death on March 5, 2008.
He was a Salesman for Swift Packing and worked with his son, Jay for 20 years.
He was a Past Exalted Rule of the Punxsutawney BPO Elks No. 301.
He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Vietnam Conflict.
He was a member of SS. Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church in Punxsutawney.
He is survived by two sons, Jay Lainey and his wife, Susan of Punxsutawney, PA, Michael Lainey of Pittsburgh, PA; one daughter, Melissa Gasbarre of Punxsutawney, PA; and three brothers, Leo Lainey of Kentucky, John Lainey of Connecticut, and Joseph Lainey of Oklahoma.
He is also survived by 5 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandson.
Friends will be received at the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home in Punxsutawney on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8.
The Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Msgr. Joseph J. Riccardo officiating.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The family requests that donations in memory of Gil be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
