Glass, Bender, Hazel, Myers Lift Clearfield Baseball Past Philipsburg-Osceola

HYDE, Pa. (D9Sports) – Eli Glass, Ty Bender and Tommy Hazel combined to drive in seven runs to lead Clearfield to a 10-3 win over visiting Philipsburg-Osceola.

Bender had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs, Glass had a pair of hits and a sac fly while driving in three and Hazel had a single, two runs scored and a sac fly while also driving in a pair of runs.

Logan Williamson had a double for Philipsburg-Osceola, one of four for the Mounties.

Will Myers got the win going 5 ⅔ innings allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out 10 before reaching the 100-pitch limit. Hazel finished off going 1 ⅓ innings allowing two runs, one earned, on one hit and one walk while striking out one.

Gage Coudriet took the loss going five innings allowing eight runs, four earned, on nine hits and a walk while striking out five.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 6, DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 4

ST. MARYS, Pa. – In a matchup of two of the top Class 1A teams in District 9, Dan Stauffer went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs to lead Elk County Catholic to a 6-4 win over visiting DuBois Central Catholic.

Jared Braun added a hit, a walk and two RBIs for the Crusaders, while Brad Dippold scored twice.

Stauffer picked up the win going four innings allowing run runs on five hits and five walks while striking out six. Brady Schneider got the save going three innings allowing three hits and two walks while striking out three.

Justin Miknis and Brandon Walker had a pair of hits and an RBI each for DCC with Miknis also scoring a run. Dom Torretti added a double and a run scored.

Thomas Grecco took the loss going 4 ⅓ innings allowing six runs, three earned, on six hits and four walks while striking out four.

CURWENSVILLE 4, KANE 1

KANE, Pa. – Scoring twice in the fifth and twice more in the sixth visiting Curwensville defeated Kane, 4-1.

Noah VonGunden was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored and two RBIs for the Golden Tide, while Ralph Evans also drove in a pair of runs.

Avery Francisco and Bryce Timko each added a pair of hits for Curwensville

Ethan Anderson had a pair of hits for Kane.

VonGunden got the win going seven innings allowing one run on five hits and a walk while striking out seven.
