Glenn Devere Knapp

Glenn Devere Knapp, age 76, of Warsaw Twp., PA, passed away with his loving family by his side, on Friday, December 22, 2017, at UPMC Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.

Glenn was born in Punxsutawney, PA, on July 7, 1941, to the late Kenneth Carlton and Madelyn Martha (Young) Knapp.

On May 16, 1970, Glenn married Esther Hazel (Thompson) Knapp, and after almost 48 years, Esther survives him.

Glenn was a member of the Richardsville United Methodist Church and he was a member of the Jefferson County Farm Bureau, serving for over 3 years, as well as Future Farmers of America. Glenn grew up on a farm, learning the value of hard work and caring for the land from his father. In 1961, Glenn and his brother Marlin started the Knapp Brothers Farm. They primarily produced milk of which they provided to many different companies over the years; most recently they were providing for Dean’s Milk.

You never had to guess where you stood with Glenn or what he was thinking. He was a great teacher, example, and role model for his kids. His iron fist approach to raising children was over-shadowed by the love he shared with them. He taught family values and taking pride in your family name, these qualities have been passed down through his posterity. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He cared deeply for them all, especially his wife. Glenn respected women, never forceful, and always a gentleman. He will be remembered as a man of integrity, discipline, hard work, and love.

In addition to his wife, Glenn is survived by 3 sons; Arnold, Edgar, and Mark Knapp; 5 grandchildren; Christopher, Naomi, Lauren, Taylor, Sophia; 2 great-grandchildren; Atalier, Arylin; and two sisters; Alma (Roger) Strouse of Fowler, OH and Phyllis Solinsky of Brookville, PA; and 1 sister-in-law; Dianna L. Knapp of Brookville, PA. Glenn is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 1 daughter; Darlene Gertrude (Knapp) Bruno, and 1 brother, Marlin K. Knapp.
