Grace Ellen Stephenson

Grace Ellen Stephenson, 72, formerly of Indiana County, PA, passed away on August 12, 2019, at an assisted living facility in Marion, VA., while under hospice care for cancer.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Marcella and Clarence Stephenson.

She is survived by her younger siblings: Richard Stephenson of Anchorage, AK; Nancy Prothero (Noel) of King George, VA; and Alice Martin (Arthur) of Bear, DE; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.

Grace was born in Tarentum, PA. For most of her life, she resided on the Stephenson family farm in East Mahoning Township, near Marion Center, PA. She graduated from Marion Center High School in 1965.

Grace resided with her mother and father most of her life and most recently with her sister, Nancy, before moving to an assisted living facility. Grace will be remembered for her hand crafted folk art and crafts. She truly enjoyed drawing and painting birds, animals, flowers and scenery, as well as other artistic endeavors. She passionately studied and collected specimens from nature.

Grace especially loved to go to the seashore and collect shells and other things which captured her attention. She enjoyed simple activities and games, such as reading, assembling jigsaw puzzles, watching her favorite television shows, listening to music, and spending time with family pets.

Grace traveled extensively with her parents and saw much of the United States (including Hawaii and Alaska) and parts of Canada.

A graveside service and interment will take place in the Marion Center Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019.
