H. Chris Fisher

Chris FisherH. Chris Fisher, 89, of Marienville, PA, died Monday February 27, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born September 24, 1927 in Flushing, Ohio, he was the son of the late Roger and Edna Housley Fisher.

Chris was a graduate of Alliance High School in Alliance, Ohio. He was a veteran serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in both WWII and the Korean War. He was very proud to be a Marine and serve his country.

On September 24, 1947 he was married to the former Patricia S. Conner in Harrisville, OH. She preceded him in death on January 4, 2009.

Chris was employed as a truck driver for Babcock & Wilcox in Alliance, OH, and later by American Steel Foundries as a foundry worker in Alliance, where he retired in 1990.

Chris was a member of the First Emanuel United Church of Christ in Alliance, OH. After moving to Marienville he became a member of Marienville United Methodist Church, and also attended the Greenwood United Methodist Church.

Chris was a member of the Marienville Lions Club, Marienville Vets Club and lifetime member of VFW Post 1034 in Alliance OH. He enjoyed helping at the local food bank. He also loved to go dancing, loved music and enjoyed reading, walking, and being with his family and friends.

Mr. Fisher is survived by three daughters, Sally S. “Robert” Searles of Hyde Park VT, Deborah A. Kopnisky of Marienville, PA, Christy L. “Robert” Beichler of Orrville OH; a daughter in law, Diana J. Fisher of Monroe, MI; and a sister, Joan Noble of Columbus, OH. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, John, Asa, Lar, Donald, Christopher, Rachael, Leslie, Drew, Lindsey, Kevin; twelve great-grandchildren, Ellie, Loren, Mae, Elizabeth, Hayden, Johnathon, Bryce, Drew, Lylah, Conner, Leslie K. and Briggs. He is also survived by a special friend Aletha C. Mossberg of Vowinckel, PA.

Mr. Fisher is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two sons, Patrick L. Fisher in 1990 and John R. Fisher in 2015.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong Funeral Home, 140 Cherry Street, Marienville, PA. There will be no visitation per the family’s wishes. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at the Marienville United Methodist Church.

Interment will be in Friends Cemetery, Quaker City, Guernsey County, Ohio.
