H. Geraldine “Jerry” Pifer

downloadH. Geraldine “Jerry” Pifer, 86, formerly of Big Run,died Friday, January 23, 2015 at Mulberry Square Eldercare.

She was born on July 29, 1928 in Sykesville, a daughter of the late Grover C. and Ethel Wilma (Daisher) Kramer.

June 26, 1947 she married Delbert Franklin Pifer. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2007. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2008.

She was a member of the Paradise United Church of Christ.

Jerry and her husband owned and operated Pifer’s Sterling Service Station in Big Run.

Mrs. Pifer was the former treasurer of the VFW Ladies Auxilliary Post 9044, a member of Eastern Star, and a former member of the Big Run Ladies Bowling League.

She was known for her vegetable soup, baked beans and custard peach pie.

Surviving relatives include three children, Alan Pifer and wife Michele of Punxsutawney, Vickie Amundson and husband Eric of Punxsutawney, and Cheryl Huff and husband Gale of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Hailee Pifer and fiancée Luke Fillhart, Brandi Defelice and husband Chase, Paige Thompson and husband Lance, Shannon Weller and husband Jared, Evan Huff, Erickson Amundson and fiancée Nicole Tosh, Braxton Amundson; two step grandchildren, Jeff Amundson and wife Angie, Julie Vanscoyoc and husband Sean; six great grandchildren, Carter, Averie, Kenlie and Parker Defelice, Paityn Thompson, and Liam Weller; seven step great grandchildren, Dustin, Dylan and Alexis Amundson, Adam, Megan, Joshua and Allison Vanscoyoc.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Grover Kramer; three sisters, Wilma (Bish) Beseker, Wanda LaBorde and Evelyn Daugherty.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Punxsutawney Alliance (CMA) Church officiated by Pastor John Buchmann.

Interment will follow at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.

Memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Pifer’s memory to the Alzheimers Association, Paradise United Church of Christ, or Wounded Warriors project.
