H. Richard (Dick) White

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAH. Richard (Dick) White of New Bethlehem died on Friday morning, December 12, 2014 at the age of 81 after a brief illness.

He retired from the Armstrong County School District in 1987 where he was an educator, guidance counselor, and school psychologist for 31 years.  He was an active lay minister in the Presbyterian Church and preached his last sermon on November 30, 2014.  He served in the US Army, was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 522 in New Bethlehem, and the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction Valley of New Castle.  He graduated from Redbank Valley High School in 1951, Clarion University in 1955, and held a Master’s Degree from Indiana University of PA.  He enjoyed his grandchildren, spending winters in Fort Myers, FL, and was an active member of Oakwood Presbyterian Church serving on its session.

He was born in New Kensington, PA, son of the late Harry and Della (Fair) White of New Bethlehem. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joanne Murphy White; his son, Larry White (Sherry) of The Villages, FL; and his daughter, Jill Gingrich (Gary) of Altoona, PA.  He has 5 grandchildren: Carl, Cole, Clay, Jaime, and Tara Gingrich; and 2 step grandchildren Heather and Heath Hughes-White.

Visitation will be at Alcorn Funeral home, 4065 Brookville Street, Hawthorn, PA 16230 on Monday, December 15 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM.  The Funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 16 at 11AM.
