H. Stuart Larson

H. Stuart Larson, 78, formerly of Sauquoit, N.Y., died Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Bassett Memorial Hospital in Cooperstown, NY after a long battle with RA and melanoma.

Born June 7, 1938, in Ridgway, he was the son of the late Harry R. and Eliza Stuart Larson.

Stuart was a 1956 graduate of Ridgway High School and earned an agriculture business degree from Cornell University. After college, he managed several GLF and Agway stores in upstate New York. He was a dual career dairy farmer and banker until his retirement.

Stuart is survived by his caregiver and fiancee, Wanda King, of North Blenheim, N.Y., his son Aric of Sauquoit, N.Y., his daughter Amanda Larson (Jim O’Maloney) of Oneida, N.Y., his three granddaughters, Bianka Gephardt, and twins Phoebe and Whitney O’Maloney; his sister Lois (John) Shoemaker of Dubois; one niece Linda (Art) Kney and daughter Elise of Bethlehem; one nephew, J. Mark (Traci) Shoemaker and children J. Dale and Leigh Anne of Hollidaysburg.

A funeral service for H. Stuart Larson will be held Friday, July 1 at 11:00 a.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home, 136 Center St. Ridgway.

Interment will be at the Oakmont Cemetery in Ridgway.

Memorials may be sent to the Elk County Historical Society, 109 Center St., Ridgway, Pa. 15853.
