Hackett Earns a Pair of All-Region Honors for PSU-Behrend; Brookville Native Headed to All-Star Game Saturday

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State-Behrend men’s basketball senior Zane Hackett, a Brookville High School graduate, was named to a pair of NCAA Division III All-Region teams this week.

On Monday, Hacket was named to the D3Hoops All-Great Lakes Region First Team, announced on Monday, and Thursday he was chosen as a National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-Great Lakes Region First Team, announced on Thursday.

The NABC recognized the best men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes and coaches in the division, selected by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division III. Hackett joins only a small handful of Lion players who have received this honor.

In addition, Hackett has been selected to play in the NABC 2016 Reese’s® Division III College All-Star game in Salem, Va., which will be played at 3:30 p.m. prior to the NCAA Division III National Championship game.

Hackett, who was also the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Player of the Year, finished the season with 16 double-doubles, good enough for eighth in the nation. He led the AMCC, and was eighth in Division III, with a 62.9 field goal percentage, and finished the season fifth in the AMCC scoring with 16.8 points per game. Hackett was also third in the conference with 10.7 rebounds per game.
