Harold Eugene Love

Harold E LoveHarold Eugene Love, age 93, of the Summerville – Corsica Rd., Clover Twp., Jefferson Co., PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, as a patient of the Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital.

Harold was born on August 12, 1923, to the late James N. and Margaret (Fleming) Love, in Clover Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.

On May 16, 1945, Harold married Bonnie Jean (Gourley) Love, in Monroe Twp., Clarion Co,. PA.

They shared a companionship spanning sixty-five years and coming to an end on July 27, 2011 when she passed on. Harold missed her dearly and the day he passed was also Bonnie’s birthday, adding more to what was already a sweet love story.

Harold attended the Corsica-Union School up to the point where he joined the United States Army, serving with the 188th Glider Infantry, Camp Mackall, North Carolina, after serving he was honorably discharged.

Harold was a member of the Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Corsica, PA, the Roseville Grange, and the Hobah Lodge #276, in Brookville, PA.

All of his life Harold worked as a carpenter whether professionally as a job, on the side with family, or personally from his own shop. His ability to work with his hands started at an early age while helping his father work on the family farm.

Harold also worked for Stahlman C&K as a carpenter and as the company progressed he ended up working as an Oiler on the drag lines until his retirement.

Intermittingly he worked for Fleming construction as well.

Harold lacked no talent in being able to produce beautiful trinkets, furniture, household items, and just about everything else, out of wood.

He most especially enjoyed making porch swings which still hang on many porches throughout our area.

He gave of his time and talents freely to those he loved and enjoyed. When he had an idea of something that he wanted to create, he would make dozens of them, and hand them out with a smile. He brought joy to everyone he came in contact with and if you saw him walking toward you, you knew you were about to be uplifted.

He is already missed, and his family is happy for his ability to be with his wife again.

Harold is survived by 1 son, Dave H. Love of Corsica, PA; 1 daughter; Linda (William) Moore of Roseville, PA; 1 daughter-in-law; Patti Miller of Brookville, PA; 6 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Harold is preceded in death by 1 uncle; Dave E. Love; and 1 great-grandson, Stephan James Byrne.

Family and friends will be received from 2 – 4pm and 6 – 8pm, on Friday, January 27, 2017, at the Pisgah Presbyterian Church, 36 Church St., Corsica, PA, 15829.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017, also at the Church, beginning at 11:00am, and officiated by the Rev. James Dietrich.

Interment will take place at the Pisgah Cemetery, Corsica, Jefferson Co., PA.
