Harry E. Welsh

Harry E. Welsh, 97, formerly of Alcola, died Tuesday evening, August 5, 2014 at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville.

He was born on July 3, 1917 in Mayport the son of Harry Dwight and Matilda J. (Getz) Welsh. He was married on November 9, 1948 to Elmo M. (Keener).

He was a veteran of World War 2 serving in the United States Army from October 28, 1941 to May 12, 1945. He worked at Crawford Furniture in Fairmount City (Alcola).

Harry is survived by his wife of almost 66 years, Elmo M. Welsh of Brookville, three sons; Larry Welsh (Janice) of LaPorte, Indiana, David Welsh (Darlene) of Sheffield and Timothy Welsh (Dianne) of Brookville, a step daughter, Trudy Beckman (Raymond) of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and a sister, Lois Jane Smith of Brookville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Mae Welsh and an infant.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 8, 2014 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the funeral home at 11:00 am with Pastor Jimmy Swogger officiating. Immediately following the funeral service, the Walter W. Craig Post 354 of New Bethlehem American Legion will honor their fallen comrade. Interment will be in the Alcola Trinity Cemetery, Redbank Township, Clarion County.
