Harry Russell Spotts Jr.

Harry Russell Spotts Jr., 68, of Big Run, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, at Montifore Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born on Aug. 1, 1947, in Beccaria, Pa.

Donald and Mona Dixon of Big Run took Harry into their home as an adult nearly two decades ago, where he was loved tremendously as if he was Donald and Mona’s very own son.

Harry was Donald’s “helper” around the Dixon farm, tagging along with Donald everywhere and always helping and learning something new every day. Where you saw one, you saw the other; they were inseparable. He absolutely enjoyed working in the barn with Don, always had a smile on his face and never asked for anything. Harry was a pleasure to know and to love.

Harry was outgoing and loved to experience new adventures. Perhaps one of Harry’s fondest, yet boldest adventures took him to Hawaii, where he traveled alone with his friend, “Harold.” The two best friends had the time of their life, bringing home memories that Harry would happily recount for years. Harry also enjoyed going to the Crazy Horse in Stump Creek for wings and tacos, where he always ate his fill of his favorite treats.

When not helping on the farm or traveling, Harry worked for Goodwill Industries and CJ Packaging. He also looked forward to spending time at Camp Friendship. It goes without saying that Harry was a congenial, outgoing man who was loved by everyone who knew him.

He will be dearly missed.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015, at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.

A funeral service will be held immediately afterward at 8 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Barry Fillman.

Harry will be interred at McClure Cemetery in Big Run.

Memorial donations may be made in Harry’s memory to Camp Friendship c/o The ARC of Jefferson and Clearfield Counties, 36 Hoover Ave., DuBois, PA 15801.
