Hearing Date Approaching for Brookville Woman Charged With Injuring Man During Domestic Dispute

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – A hearing has been scheduled for a Brookville woman who allegedly struck and injured a man during a domestic dispute.

Court documents indicate 41-year-old Lee Ann Donnelly is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Gregory M Bazylak at 2:00 p.m. on January 14.

She faces the following charges:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2 (three counts)
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary (three counts)

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in Brookville in early November.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 5:45 p.m. on November 6, Brookville Borough Police were dispatched by Jefferson County 9-1-1 for a report of a hang-up call related to an alleged domestic dispute at a residence on Madison Avenue.

Police responded to the scene, and after knocking on the door, heard two men and a woman arguing and yelling inside the residence. When no one answered the door, police found it was unlocked and proceeded inside and upstairs.

The complaint states police observed two individuals, a woman and a man, who had several bruises and cuts on his head that were bleeding. The officer at the scene then requested back-up.

The officer tried to get information from the man and woman, but the complaint states they both continued to interrupt one another. The woman was then asked to go downstairs and wait on the porch while the officer spoke to the man.

The male victim reported he was cleaning for most of the day when the woman, identified as Lee Ann Donnelly, arrived home, and they began arguing. The victim stated they had been arguing off and one for days and told police at some point, things escalated to the point where Donnelly began hitting him, which was where he got the cuts and bruises on his head.

The complaint notes the victim was not very forthcoming with information, as he said he didn’t want to get Donnelly in trouble. The victim also denied needing medical attention.

Police then spoke to Donnelly, who was sitting on the porch of the residence. She allegedly stated that she and the victim had gotten into an argument after she got home from work. She stated she went to the bathroom, and the victim came in and started attacking her, holding her with one hand and hitting her with the other, and said they then moved from the bathroom to the bedroom.

Donnelly told police she was kicked in the back, and in order to defend herself, she hit the victim. She also reported she was struck with a remote on the back of the head.

The complaint states police found there were no visible injuries on Donnelly’s back or the back of her head. However, police did note Donnelly had redness to her left hand. Donnelly was then asked and confirmed she is left-handed.

According to the complaint, police also found the victim had additional injuries to his left side as well as an abrasion to his back near his left shoulder blade.

Donnelly was then taken into custody for domestic violence.

The complaint notes that prior to leaving the scene, police again offered to call for EMS, but the victim denied needing EMS or any further medical evaluation. Police then advised the victim to call an ambulance or go to the hospital if he began to have any other problems from his injuries.

The charges were filed against Donnelly through Magisterial District Judge Gregory M Bazylak’s office on November 7.
