Hearing Date Approaching for Reynoldsville Man Accused of Threatening Woman With Gun

WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A hearing date has been scheduled for next week for a Reynoldsville man who allegedly threatened a woman with a gun during an incident in Washington Township.

Court documents indicate 31-year-old David Michael Chapdelaine is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana at 9:45 a.m. on May 25, on the following charges:

– Terroristic Threats With Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2

The charges stem from an incident in Washington Township earlier this month.

According to a criminal complaint, around 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, DuBois-based State Police were dispatched to a residence in Washington Township, Jefferson County, for a report of a man threatening a female victim with a firearm.

At the scene, police spoke with the victim who reported that she went to a relative’s home and when she pulled in the driveway another vehicle, operated by David Michael Chapdelaine pulled in behind her.

According to the complaint, the victim told police that Chapdelaine immediately exited his vehicle and when she opened her door and began to exit her vehicle, Chapdelaine approached her holding a gray and black semi-automatic pistol.

The victim reported that Chapdelaine then pointed the gun at her and said: “You’re going to die, you son of a (expletive)! I will shoot you!” according to the complaint.

The victim told police that Chapdelaine then began striking her windshield with the gun while screaming at her, the complaint states.

The victim was able to exit her vehicle and go into the residence, at which point Chapdelaine got into his vehicle and pulled out of the driveway, according to the complaint.

When the victim went to speak to the state police to report the incident, her voice was wavering and her hands were visibly shaking.

Police also interviewed Chapdelaine and a passenger in his vehicle about the incident.

According to the complaint, the passenger (a witness to the incident) told police that Chapdelaine did have a gun out and in his possession during the argument with the victim, but said he had no other details.

When Chapdelaine was questioned, he reportedly admitted that he did argue with the victim and did have a gun in his hand during the argument. He also admitted to striking the victim’s windshield with the gun while yelling at her, the complaint states.

According to the complaint, Chapdelaine also admitted that he did tell the victim he wanted to shoot her while holding the gun; however, he reportedly told police that he never pointed the gun at the victim.

Chapdelaine gave police consent to retrieve the gun from his vehicle, and it was found to match the description given by the victim, the complaint notes.

Chapdelaine was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana at 3:45 p.m. on May 5.

He remains free on $10,000.00 unsecured bail.
