– False Identification To Law Enforcement Officer, Misdemeanor 3

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in Punxsutawney in late August.

According to a criminal complaint, around 12:31 a.m. on August 22, Punxsutawney-based State Police initiated a traffic stop on Park Avenue in Punxsutawney Borough, Jefferson County.

The complaint states during the initial stop, the female driver was identified by her Pennsylvania driver’s license, and the male passenger, later identified as Robert William Cochran, was also asked to provide identification. Cochran stated he could provide his name and date of birth, and gave the name Robert A. Cochran.

According to the complaint, during the stop, police observed Cochran drinking an alcoholic beverage and also found that the driver had an active Protection From Abuse (PFA) order against Cochran.

Cochran was then asked to step out of the vehicle. Cochran was highly intoxicated. He was then advised he was being placed under arrest for violating an active PFA order, the complaint states.

According to the complaint, Cochran then began to physically resist arrest and yelled obscenities at the female driver. He was reportedly “extremely uncooperative” and banged his head on the patrol unit window.

The complaint states Cochran also kicked one of the troopers while being transported.

The following charges were filed against Cochran through Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office on August 28.

He is currently lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.
