The charges stem from an incident that occurred in Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, in late June.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 12:10 p.m. on June 30, an altercation occurred in a vehicle traveling on Martha Street in Punxsutawney.

A known victim reported that she and Kyle John Buffington had gotten into an argument while she was driving on Martha Street. The victim told police that she thought Buffington was going to grab the steering wheel, so she put her arm up to block him from doing so, and Buffington then punched her in the head while she was driving, according to the complaint.

The complaint notes the victim reported that she then stopped at the stop sign at the bottom of the hill, and Buffington exited the vehicle. She told police he then kicked the driver’s side door, causing a large dent. The victim then drove to the police station to report the incident.

The complaint also notes police contacted Crossroads to assist the victim in applying for a Protection From Abuse (PFA) order.

Buffington was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock at 1:32 p.m. on June 30.
