Hearing Set for Falls Creek Man Busted for Meth, Heroin, Paraphernalia

WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A hearing has been set for next week for a Falls Creek man who was found in possession of methamphetamine, heroin, and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

Court documents indicate 44-year-old Roger Joseph Mikulec, of Falls Creek, is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, October 24.

Mikulec faces the following charges:

– Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– Possession of Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor
– Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor

The charges stem from a traffic stop that occurred in Washington Township in early August.

According to a criminal complaint, around 1:12 p.m. on August 1, Tpr. Himes of the DuBois-based State Police conducted a traffic stop on a gold 2004 Dodge RAM for a speeding violation on Interstate 80 eastbound near mile marker 93.4 in Washington Township.

According to the complaint, as Tpr. Himes approached the vehicle the female driver produced a false name for identification purposes, which led to further investigation, and Tpr. Himes noted the front seat passenger, identified as Roger Joseph Mikulec, was breathing heavily and his hands were trembling.

Tpr. Himes then requested that the driver exit the vehicle to speak to him. According to the complaint, the driver stated that they were coming from Erie where they had gone to the beach and to a friend’s house and had stopped to eat before driving home.

Tpr. Himes then spoke to the rear-seat passenger, who allegedly related that they had been in Erie, but when asked, said they did not stop to eat anywhere before starting the trip home. The complaint notes that the conflicting stories were considered an indication of criminal activity. Tpr. Himes then requested and received consent to search the vehicle.

According to the complaint, a search of the vehicle revealed a clear plastic bag containing approximately 10 grams of suspected heroin, a clear plastic bag containing approximately three ounces of crystal meth, a silver digital scale, a multicolored glass smoking pipe, and three clear glass-smoking pipes.

The complaint notes that after being advised of his Miranda Warnings, Mikulec stated that all of the drugs and paraphernalia found in the vehicle belonged to him. He was then transported back to the DuBois State Police barracks.

According to the complaint, Mikulec stated he purchased the meth and heroin in Erie to transport them back to DuBois to sell them for a profit.

The charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana’s office on Thursday, August 1.

Mikulec remains free on $50,000.00 unsecured bail.
