Helen Harvey Farmery

Helen Harvey Farmery, 89, Punxsutawney, died Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Mahoning Riverside Manor.

She was born June 1, 1926, in Emeigh, a daughter of the late Katherine (Phillips) and Steven Ferensic.

She was married to James V. Harvey, who preceded her in death in 1970, and then married Robert “Red” Farmery, who preceded her in death on March 22, 2005.

She was a member of Saints Cosmas and Damien Roman Catholic Church of Punxsutawney.

Helen enjoyed painting, knitting, crocheting, watching game shows on TV, and gardening. She was a great cook and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Helen was a volunteer for the Van Dyke and Company Dance Studio, the American Red Cross, and also volunteered her time working the Voting Polls.

Mrs. Farmery is survived by five children, Kathleen Harvey of Punxsutawney, James Harvey and wife Lucinda of Punxsutawney, Callie Harvey of Punxsutawney, Bob Farmery and wife Shelly of California, and Nancy Nickerson and husband Rob of Cape Cod, MA; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; a sister Betty McCloskey of Williamsport; two brothers, Ted Ferensic and wife Betsy of New Jersey and Ron Ferensic and wife Irene of Northern Cambria; a daughter-in-law Kay Harvey of Punxsutawney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Van S. Harvey.

A private family memorial service will be held with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo officiating.
