Helen Thomas

Helen Thomas, 94, Punxsutawney, formerly of Helvetia and DuBois, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Mulberry Square Eldercare in Punxy.

She was born September 27, 1920 in Helvetia; daughter of the late Joseph and Ann (Troyan) Pindrock. She married Frank Thomas in 1947; he preceded her in death in 2000.

Helen is survived by a daughter Judy Schutz and husband James; two grandchildren: Kim Carulli and husband William and Kevin Sprankle; two great-grandchild: John Paul and Nick.

Helen lived many years in Helvetia before moving to DuBois.

Helen was a member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Church of Sykesville. She worked for Sylvania in Emporium making radio tubes, then B.F. Goodrich of DuBois, then worked for DuBois Schools. Her activities included walking to school, swimming in the dam, gardening, picking berries, and dancing at the Peacock in Helvetia.

Helen is also preceded in death by five brothers: Steve, Mike, George, Pete and Joseph; three sisters: Julie Massasack, Ann Galaskus and infant Atey.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were under the direction of the Leo Nedza Funeral Home of Sykesville.
