Helen Virginia (Copenhaver) Glovier

Glovier, HelenHelen Virginia (Copenhaver) Glovier went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on March 30, 2015 at the age of 90.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.” Psalm 116:15

Born July 26, 1924 in Conneaut, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Spurgeon Albert and Florence Naomi (Schreckengost) Copenhaver.

Helen grew up in the Stanton United Methodist Church not far from the family farm. She was a 1942 graduate of Brookville High School and a 1944 graduate of the Philipsburg State General Hospital Nursing School.

She served in the Cadet Nurse Corp in World War II, as a registered nurse and nurse supervisor at several hospitals and was on the faculty of Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Johnstown, PA. Following retirement from teaching, she continued as a home health nurse in the Johnstown community.

She was an energetic lifelong student receiving her BS in Education in 1972 and MA in Counseling in 1975. Helen was very active in the churches she attended; St. Paul’s Presbyterian, Somerset, PA and Westmont Presbyterian, Johnstown, PA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband L. Howard Glovier, sister Catherine Pearl Wood and brother Kenneth Fred Copenhaver.

She is survived by brother Richard Copenhaver and his wife Marsha, Litiz, PA, son Clifford Glovier and his wife Deborah of Beaver Falls, PA and son Stephen Glovier and his wife Elaine of McMurray, PA., grandchildren Sarah Necaster and her husband Steve, Katherine Glovier, Michelle Easterling and her husband Jon and Jeremy Glovier and his wife Jenna, Megan Glovier, Scott Glovier and Marissa Glovier. And great grand children Nicholas Necaster, Anna Necaster and Charles Easterling.

Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Service Saturday, April 4 at 11:00 am at the Stanton United Methodist Church, 189 Stanton Road, Brookville, PA. The Rev. Roger Howard will be officiating. Interment will be at Ohl Cemetery in a family plot. At Helen’s request there is no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Helen may be made to the Asbury Heights, Asbury Foundation in honor of the nurses and staff for all their care and kindness to Helen. Asbury Foundation, 700 Bower Hill Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15234.
