Herbert A. Work

Herbert Alton Work, 89, of Route 219, Brockport, PA, died on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Penn Highlands DuBois.

Born on November 17, 1928, in Jimtown, PA, he was the son of the late Earl and Grace Yohe Work.

On December 25, 1953, he was married to Norma Snyder and she survives.

Herbert was employed at Brockway Glass starting out working in the Mould Shop and retiring as a Shift Supervisor after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Brockport United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. Herbert also was a member of Elk Lodge Free and Accepted Masons in Ridgway. He enjoyed spending time at his camp, cutting grass and hunting. His real niche was being a gadget kind of guy that loved to tinker and fix things.

In addition to his wife he is also survived by a son Wayne Work of Brockport; a daughter Carrie (Timothy) McDole also of Brockport; a son Raymond (Maureen) Work of Clemmons, NC; and a son Gregory Work of Jimtown, PA; one sister Emma Work of Brookville, PA; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

In addition to his parents his is also preceded in death by a son: Ralph Work; four sisters: Buelah Work, Ethel Moore, Verba Pawuak, Pearl Wingard; four brothers: Homer, Boyd, Alec, and Ralph Work; and a daughter-in-law: Terri Work.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, February 6, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 7, at 11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Nagele officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Ridgway.
