Hickory Grove Students Display Projects on the Life of Ben Franklin

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Students at Hickory Grove Elementary recently got to show off their knowledge following a project focused on the life and accomplishments of Benjamin Franklin.

The students started by reading about Franklin and then completed projects and activities in ELA, Social Studies, and Differentiated Instruction.

Among other things, they created posters showing their knowledge of the vocabulary words as they read, Who Was Ben Franklin by Dennis Brindell Fradin.

They also compared and contrasted this nonfiction book with the fictional Book, Ben and Me by Robert Lawson.

They organized and wrote a text-dependent analysis showing that Franklin was an amazing author and scientist.

At the end of the unit, each student represented an event that was important in Ben’s life and created a poster to hang on a timeline showing his life from 1706-1790.
