High School Baseball Roundup: Brockway, Brookville Both Lose Monday

Monday’s high school baseball recaps.

KANE 5, BROCKWAY 3

KANE, Pa. – Jacob Lister had three hits, including a pair of doubles, drove in a run and scored a run while also picking up the save to lead Kane to its first win of the year, 5-3, over visiting Brockway.

Austin Jordan also drove in two runs for the Wolves, who got a strong tag-team pitching performance from Cyrus Novosel and Lister.

Novosel got the win going five innings and allowing three runs on eight hits. He struck out seven.

Lister earned the save with two scoreless innings of relief. He allowed a hit and two walks while striking out three.

Hunter Antonuccio led Brockway going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored and an RBI. Tony Isabella was also 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.

Seth Shugarts suffered the loss lasting 1 ⅔ innings allowing four unearned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four. Michael Martino went 4 ⅓ innings allowing one unearned run on two hits and two walks while striking out six.

Kane is 1-12. Brockway is 5-8.

CLARION 9, BROOKVILLE 7

SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. – Caleb Wilson had three hits, Leo Aiello added two hits and Bo Miller drove in two runs to lead Clarion to a 9-7 win over visiting Brookville.

Wilson was 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Aiello was 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored. Miller walked once. Cam Craig also added two hits and a run scored for the Bobcats.

Kyle Dunkle led Brookville going 2-for-2 with a home run, two walks, two runs scored and three RBIs. Logan Thrush was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Nick Keth had a two-run double in the seventh.

Reed Anthony got the win in relief of Miller. He went two innings allowing one run on two hits and three walks while striking out three.

Miller went the first three innings allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits and two walks while striking out two. Craig went two innings allowing three runs, one earned, on two hits and two walks.

Ben Reitz took the loss going 3 ⅔ innings allowing six runs, three earned on six hits and two walks while striking out three.

Clarion is 13-3. Brookville is 7-11.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 17, VENANGO CATHOLIC 5, 5 INNINGS

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Riley Hummell and Christian Smith each drove in three runs to lead Clarion-Limestone to a 17-5, five-inning win over visiting Venango Catholic.

Hummell was 3-for-3 with a triple and three runs scored, while Smith was 1-for-3. Taylor Smith also had a triple and was 1-for-1 with three walks and four runs scored, while Ian Hawthorn was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Sam Leadbetter scored three times for the Lions and had two hits and an RBI, while Travis Preston also scored twice.

Josh Puleo had two hits, an RBI and a run scored for Venango Catholic with Ian Bain adding three RBIs for the Vikings.

Alex Acree, the third pitcher of the day for C-L, got the win going 2 ⅔ innings allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out three.

Josh Puleo suffered the loss allowing eight runs, four earned, on three hits and three walks in 1 ⅓ innings.

C-L improved to 9-6. Venango Catholic fell to 3-13.

A-C VALLEY 10, FOREST AREA 0, 5 INNINGS

PARKER, Pa. – John Anderson had three hits and two RBIs to lead A-C Valley to a 10-0, five-inning win over visiting Forest Area.

Anderson was 3-for-3 with three singles.

Noah Morgan got the win in relief going four innings and allowing three walks while striking out three and not allowing a hit. Tommy Amsler started and went an inning allowing two singles and striking out one.

Andrew Schwab and Dillon DiCorpo had Forest Area’s hits.

A-C Valley is 8-8. Forest Area is 0-16.
