High School Baseball Roundup: C-L Blasts A-C Valley

Tuesday’s high school baseball recaps.


STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – A six-run third inning helped Clarion-Limestone to a 10-0, five-inning win over visiting A-C Valley.

Freshman Colby Himes was 4-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, while Taylor Smith hit a home run and went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Sam Leadbetter added two hits in three at bats including a triple while also drawing a walk, scoring a run and driving in one. Riley Hummell got into the act going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Leadbetter shutdown A-C Valley allowing just three hits while striking out six.


TIONESTA, Pa. – Patience paid off for Moniteau in a 20-0, four-inning win over Forest Area at West Forest.

The Warriors drew 17 walks in four innings with Jake Jewart drawing four walks and going 1-for-1 with an RBI and a run scored and Wyatt Ifft drawing three free passes and scoring three times. Josh McNeish also walked twice and was 1-for-2 with three runs scored. Greg Sutton and Josh Adamson each drove home two runs with Adamson going 2-for-3 with a walks and three runs scored and Sutton going 1-for-4 with two runs scored. Zach Adamson also was 1-for-1 with a walk, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Jewart got the win in relief of Derek Boben going one inning and allowing one hit and striking out one. Boben threw the first two innings allowing a hit while recording five of the six outs by strikeout. Brice Williams then finished off walking two and striking out one.
