High School Softball Roundup: A-C Valley Scores Twice Late to Beat Brookville

Monday’s high school softball recaps.

A-C VALLEY 6, BROOKVILLE 5

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – A-C Valley scored twice in the top of the seventh to rally past Brookville for a 6-5 win over Brookville.

Trailing 5-4 in the seventh with one out, Lauren McNany hit an infield single and reached second on a throwing error by shortstop Elaina Powell. Cami McNany followed with a game-tying double to deep left. Then, an out later, Haylee Wetzel singled in Cami McNany with the go-ahead run.

Lauren McNany was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Wetzel scored twice and was 1-for-2, while Kiley Eaton was 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored. Alyssa Babcock added a hit, an RBI and stolen base, and Kelsie Terwilliger had a double.

Hannah Kirkwood was 2-for-2 with a run scored for Brookville, while Powell went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Laken Hergert had a double and two RBIs, and Maggie Miller also added a pair of RBIs for the Lady Raiders.

Katie Stumpner got the win going seven inning and allowing five runs, three earned, on nine hits and four walks while striking out one.

Carly McManigle took the loss going seven innings allowing six runs on 10 hits and three walks while striking out three.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 16, KANE 1, 4 INNINGS

DUBOIS, Pa. – Riley Assalone and Ashley Wruble each had three hits to help DuBois Central Catholic to 16-1, four-inning win over visiting Kane.

Jordy Frank and Stephanie Rossi each added two hits including a home run apiece.

Wruble got the win giving up one unearned run on two hits while striking out seven.

MONITEAU 10, CLARION-LIMESTONE 0, 6 INNINGS

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Kennedy DeMatteis threw her second no-hitter of the season, as Moniteau downed visiting Clarion-Limestone, 10-0 in six innings.

DeMatteis struck out 13 and walked one. She also helped her own cause with a pair of singles, three RBIs and a run scored.

Also on offense, Cortney Claypoole hit her fourth home run of the season while adding two double, a single, two runs scored and five RBIs.

Gabby Stewart also had three singles and three runs scored for the Lady Warriors, while Alyssa Dailey chipped in with a double, two singles and two runs scored.

Moniteau is now 10-0 on the year.
